What will participants learn?

The first six days focus on drone flying and training towards DGCA Remote Pilot Certification. The following four days introduce aerial photography and videography, with participants developing photographs and videos for their creative portfolios. The organisers describe the programme as a way to combine technical skills with visual storytelling. Applicants should confirm certification requirements and outcomes directly with the organisers.

Eligibility and selection preference

Applications are open to women photographers aged 18 and above from across Tamil Nadu. Preference will be given to previous Kanavu Fellowship participants, Kala Collective members, and applicants from low-income or marginalised backgrounds. Selection is not described as first-come, first-served; prospective participants should read the application form for the current selection process.

Workshop fee, scholarships and accommodation

The self-funded programme costs ₹30,000, covering training, hostel accommodation and DGCA certification. The fee may be paid in two instalments: ₹15,000 on acceptance and ₹15,000 two weeks before the workshop.

Fully funded places are available based on financial need. According to the organisers, requesting support will not reduce the chance of selection. Applicants may also opt to contribute ₹60,000 to cover their own participation and help fund another woman’s place.

Hostel accommodation and vegetarian meals are provided for residential participants. Those commuting daily receive lunch. Some sessions begin at 6 am, so applicants should consider travel and availability before applying.
