About This Competition
Karlsruhe UNESCO City of Media Arts and dm-drogerie markt invite international media artists, individually or in collectives, to the dm Award ‘Connecting Worlds’ under the theme PLAYGROUND. Proposals must connect two spaces: a 2–5-minute projection mapping on the façade of Karlsruhe Palace during SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE 2027, and at least one physical satellite element in Karlsruhe’s Market Square. The winner receives a €10,000 award, plus up to €20,000 net in production support; production funding is a project budget, not additional personal prize money. Applications close 25 November 2026 at 13:00 CET (Karlsruhe local time). ArtConnect lists application as free. Submit one German- or English-language document with contact details, brief project outline of no more than 1,500 characters, storyboard, material and personnel requirements, and supporting visuals (up to five images, three audio/video clips, or five links). Email cityofmediaarts@kultur.karlsruhe.de with a download link, not a large direct attachment. The project must be completed by 31 July 2027. Employees of hosts, sponsors and jury members are excluded. Official call and complete rules: https://www.cityofmediaarts.de/de/events/jetzt-bewerben-ausschreibung-dm-award-connecting-worlds/ .
