About This Competition
Amsterdam Light Festival invites artists, designers and creative makers worldwide to submit concepts for light artworks on Amsterdam’s canals for Edition 16, held 25 November 2027 to 16 January 2028. The application deadline is 7 December 2026 at 23:59 CET. Applications use the artist briefing, a submission template of no more than three pages, and the official submission portal linked in the briefing. Existing artworks may be considered, but new concepts are especially welcome. The selection considers quality, response to the briefing, visitor experience and artist statement. Outdoor works must withstand two months of weather and avoid nuisance to residents. Selected makers receive an artist fee of €4,000, plus production and travel costs, and technical support. Independent ArtConnect listing confirms no application fee. This is the worldwide general open call, separate from the Netherlands-only X Amarte strand.
